About the Speaker

Jon Carrigan joined the Navy in 1993 as a Logistics Officer. He has served afloat and ashore in the full range of logistics appointments, including as an operational logistics planner in both the Permanent Joint Headquarters and Defence Supply Chain Operations and Movements organisations. He has deployed to Bahrain and Afghanistan in headquarters ashore and the South Atlantic, Indian Ocean, West Africa, the Caribbean and the Baltic afloat.

When not deployed or in logistics command appointments, he has nurtured a support specialism culminating in appointments in Defence Equipment and Support as the ships’ support lead and as a team leader for the team responsible for in-service support for all marine systems in Type 45 Destroyers and

Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers, including for the inaugural carrier strike group deployment in 2021.

As the Deputy Director of the National Shipbuilding Office, he engages with the shipbuilding and maritime technology industry, and with all those across Government with an interest in shipbuilding, to drive an efficient, competitive and resilient sector that delivers the nation’s national security and economic growth ambitions.

He is President of the Horsham Royal Naval Association and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport.
