It's a Seawork debut for Ramtech which will be showcasing its fully wireless fire detection and life safety ecosystem at Seawork 2026.
Specifically designed to protect people, assets, and operations during shipbuilding and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) projects, Ramtech’s solutions provide a faster, more flexible approach to fire protection without the limitations of wired infrastructure.
Fire risk across the marine sector is intensifying as shipyards and vessel operators face increasing pressure to improve safety during complex build and refit programmes.
Shipboard fire incidents increased by approximately 20% year on year in 2024, reaching the highest level recorded in over a decade. The risk is significantly elevated during periods of repair, refit and system impairment, particularly during hot works, which are common across shipbuilding and MRO environments.
These phases introduce a unique combination of challenges. Vessel layouts are constantly changing, fixed fire systems are often incomplete or temporarily disabled and work frequently continues outside of normal hours. Together, these factors create conditions where traditional fire protection methods struggle to provide consistent and reliable coverage.
Ramtech’s WES wireless fire detection and alarm system is purpose built to address these challenges. It can be rapidly deployed across vessels, dry docks and shipyard facilities without the need for cabling or mains power, making it ideal for fast moving projects. The system forms a self-configuring mesh network that maintains coverage as environments evolve, ensuring continuous protection throughout every stage of newbuild, repair and refit operations.
Alongside its WES wireless fire system, Ramtech will also showcase REACT, its cloud-based emergency notification platform designed to strengthen response during critical marine operations.
REACT provides alerts to both on-site and off-site teams, delivering visibility of fire events and system status across vessels or multiple projects. It also creates a full audit trail to support compliance and reporting, while enabling faster and more coordinated emergency response. In high-risk MRO environments, particularly during out of hours activity, REACT ensures that critical incidents are never missed.
