The free-to-attend 2025 Seawork Conferences provide a breadth of insights and learning opportunities on key topics in the commercial marine industry.
This year’s sessions take place on Wednesday 11 June, the second day of Seawork, in the dedicated Conference Suite at the exhibition. The three sessions will tackle Future Fuels with case studies highlighting real world applications and industry learnings; the latest developments in Onshore Power Supply and how AI and Autonomy is helping to optimise performance and deliver efficiencies across fleet technology.
Future Fuels will take place from 10:00-11:15 and will be moderated by Noel Tomlinson, Senior Business Development Manager at Commercial Maritime, BMT. An incorporated engineer and active member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) Noel is well placed to lead the discussions with the expert speakers who include Andrew Clarke, Senior Technical Specialist at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), providing technical advice to central Government on future maritime decarbonisation policy and advice on future fuel safety and Steve Bruce, Global OEM Sales Director of ePropulsion and Managing Director of ePropulsion UK, who heads up the team supporting the global distributors and boat builder partners. They will be joined by Bert de Ruiter, Commercial Manager Work Boats at Acta Jifmar B.V.
Moderated by Roland Teixeira de Mattos, President of the European Onshore Power Supply Association (EOPSA), the second session of the day, from 11:45 - 13:00, will consider Onshore Power Supply - connection and investment in pursuit of decarbonisation goals. As a former GE executive, Roland oversaw installation of OPS for inland shipping in Rotterdam back in 2008. Alongside EOPSA, Roland is now spearheading a multi-MW smart grid decarbonisation program in the Port of Cherbourg, in partnership with H2air, together with key offshore wind players. He chairs WFO’s subcommittee on Environment, Cohabitation and Biodiversity.
Speakers in the session include Leo Hambro, Commercial Director of Tidal Transit Limited; Andy Hurley, Director of Marine Zero; Lex Hanham, Business Development Manager at Associated British Ports and Chris Poyner, Head of Shore Power at ABB.
The final session of the day is “Driving down OPEX with data driven decisions”. Session moderator Duncan Duffy, Global Head of Technology/Electrotechnical at Lloyd's Register will drive forward the discussions in this key area of AI and Autonomy. Duncan Duffy is a Chartered Electronics and Electrical Engineer with more than 30 years’ experience of the safe and successful integration of maritime systems. He will be joined by speakers Ethan Faghani, CEO and Founder of Cetasol, a company specialising in energy management solutions; Tom Rooney, General Manager of Marine AI, a trained engineer, having served in the Royal Navy for 25 years and renowned for his expertise in radar, sonar, external communications and marine operations, and Jonathan Strachan, Chief Technical Officer of Houlder, specialists in engineering design, clean technology and technical consultancy for the marine and offshore environments.
