The project of a lifetime
Completing this Spring, Middle Harbor combines two aging shipping terminals into the greenest container terminal; the 300-plus-acre future-forward terminal runs on electrified operating equipment that has effectively reduced emissions significantly and doubled capacity.
Capable of handling some of the world’s largest container vessels, the terminal’s annual throughput is expected to reach 3 million TEUs(twenty-foot equivalent units), supported by an expanded port-wide rail system with the capacity to move 35 percent of containerised cargo by rail.
The successful project is the product of seamless collaboration between terminal owner, operator, and program manager. Watch the video below to take a virtual tour of the impressive Middle Harbor and LBCT and see the results of Moffatt & Nichol’s hard work.
