This Session provided technical insight on new innovative hull designs and technology which is benefitting workboats by decreasing frictional and wave resistance – resulting in lower fuel usage and a reduction in carbon emissions.
Bruno Bouckaert of Hull Vane BV talked through case study data on the Hull Vane product – a stern wing appendage that creates forward thrust - and the energy saving advantage this provides in terms of fuel reduction.
Surface Effect Specialist – Nere Skomedal of ESNA AS – presented on the new SES technology being delivered. The air cushioned catamarans with active motion damping systems decrease frictional resistance, resulting in greater fuel efficiency and an increase in comfort during transit.
Leaders in simulation driven marine innovation, Simon Schofield of BAR Technologies provided insight into their current projects including the recently launched BARTech 30 - a class leading Crew Transfer Vessel with active foils producing significant fuel savings and vastly superior seakeeping.
